Running from the cops, he jumped off a highway barrier and injured his foot. I think. OR after he jumped off the barrier he hijacked a car and got into an accident which caused the foot injury.

He was trying to cross the freeway in downtown Seattle, running away from the scene of the crime I guess. He sprained his ankle jumping over a barrier. He was the guy toting an ak 47 and handing them out.
