"I’d really like to see that 8,054 number from a more credible source than IWB."

OK, here's fresh numbers from the CDC:

https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/covid-data/covidview/index.html

(From just above the second chart from the bottom of the page...)

...Among 8,672 hospitalized adults with information on
underlying medical conditions, 91% had at least one
reported underlying medical condition.
The most commonly
reported were hypertension, obesity, chronic metabolic
disease, and cardiovascular disease. Among 180 hospitalized
children with information on underlying conditions,
51.7% had at least one reported underlying medical
condition. The most commonly reported were obesity,
asthma, and neurologic conditions.

And further down:

...Based on death certificate data available on July 2, 2020,
5.9% of all deaths occurring during the week ending June 27,
2020 (week 26) were due to pneumonia, influenza or COVID-19
(PIC). This is the tenth consecutive week of a declining
percentage of deaths due to PIC.

For the CDC's Death totals for COVID19 we go here:

OK! For a trusted source, I'm going to break out my
trusty HP-11C calculator emulator on my iPhone.

So, the CDC thinks 91% had at least one underlying condition.

That leaves 9% that died of COVID19 alone.

The CDC tells us there were 118,598 US Deaths involving
COVID19.

118,598 X 0.09 = 10,674 (Rounding UP!)

I calculate, from the CDC's numbers...

10,674 US Deaths from COVID19 Alone.
ie. Without additional morbidity(s).

(My two REAL HP-11C calculators give the same answer.)

SO there you have it.
From the CDC and my most trusted calculators.

I suspect your mileage won't vary much.

Here's IWB's take from back in June.

And the CDC seems to have scrubbed the links IWB was using...

Thanks very much for your efforts. Give your trusted calculator a nice full charge from a solid fossil-fuel power source for me!

I wanted to share this with a medical professional who is objective, but highly skeptical of online sources, and who wouldn’t have given credibility to the analysis without having a source like CDC, so this is perfect.

As I mentioned, they used to publish similar data (back in Mar-Apr timeframe) but then I’ve had a harder time finding it. If they’ve not buried the source information IWB used, that seems quite telling. CDC has a lot to answer for in all this and I hope a day of reckoning awaits after the election, which it will not just blow back on President Trump.

So, the deaths are almost the same as they were in 1957.

Right on the CDC website.
In 1957, 115,000 died then when we had half the population.

https://www.cdc.gov/flu/pandemic-resources/1957-1958-pandemic.html
The estimated number of deaths was 1.1 million worldwide and 116,000 in the United States.
1957-1958 Pandemic (H2N2 virus) | Pandemic Influenza (Flu) | CDC
In February 1957, a new influenza A (H2N2) virus emerged in East Asia, triggering a pandemic (“Asian Flu”). This H2N2 virus was comprised of three different genes from an H2N2 virus that originated from an avian influenza A virus, including the H2 hemagglutinin and the N2 neuraminidase genes.

Then in 1968. The estimated number of deaths was 1 million worldwide and about 100,000 in the United States. Most excess deaths were in people 65 years and older.

1968 Pandemic (H3N2 virus) | Pandemic Influenza (Flu) | CDC
The 1968 pandemic was caused by an influenza A (H3N2) virus comprised of two genes from an avian influenza A virus, including a new H3 hemagglutinin, but also contained the N2 neuraminidase from the 1957 H2N2 virus.

Hiya Easy,
Well my medical expert pal has a problem with the analysis you did that I shared with him. He’s asking specifically where CDC says 91% of deaths were people with co-morbidities.

What is says just above the second chart from the bottom of the page...is:

“...Among 8,672 hospitalized adults with information on
underlying medical conditions, 91% had at least one
reported underlying medical condition. “

Which I have to agree, isn’t the same thing.

Seems like some data is missing here.

And a question of my own: when looking at that chart (2nd from bottom) where it says “Preliminary data as of July 4”, how do we know that is cumulative data? And from what start date?

91% had at least one reported underlying medical condition. The most commonly reported were hypertension, obesity, chronic metabolic disease,

these people are beuts. "chronic metabolic disease" is a cluster of different conditions. So much for at least "one".
