The Big Broadcast is a Sunday night tradition for families throughout the WAMU listening area.

Longtime radio personality and The Big Broadcast host Ed Walker passed away early on Oct. 26 at age 83. We invite you to leave your thoughts and remembrances.

Saying Goodbye To Ed Walker

Ed Walker spent 65 years on the radio. His last program was unlike any other.

Happy Sunday all....

If the You Are There “Philadelphia, July 4, 1776” is the one with Jimmy Stewart narrating then we have a treat on our hands...other than that I’m liking the 10pm hour...

How’s it going?

Good tune, but this is his best song: Radio Silence. Music and production is excellent

On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their hearts desire at last, and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.

—H.L. Mencken, The Baltimore Evening Sun, July 26, 1920

Could that be Senile Joe?

I like both of those, too, but I think “Airwaves” may be my favorite, although I have a few favorites by him—also, “Screen Kiss” and “I Scare Myself.”

Connie went in on Wednesday to have a pair of molars exracted on the bottom that had eventually broken down below the gum. The 'dentist' (I use that term loosely) had so much blood flowing, she freaked and sent her to an oral surgeon so she could get it packed off. I took her back Thursday for the surgeon to finish the job right, and they had to put her under for it. Due to 'social distancing concerns' (God when will this nightmare ever end), I had to sit in the car and wait. The surgeon had me come around the side door to pick her up, and said everything went great (which makes me wonder how the original dentist botched it so badly), and I was given a dietary list and post-op package for her. She's doing ok. She's got oxycodone and antibiotics and I helicopter over her to make sure she follows instructions, or she'll be trying to eat things she shouldn't. I got her everything on her menu soup to nuts so she can't complain about it being too bland. She goes back in six weeks and they're making a mold so they can fix her up with a clip-in lower partial. And now two of the cats decided they wanted new living quarters, and one of them - Nermal - has been sleeping either on the bar stool in the kitchen, or along the top edge of the flatscreen TV on the bar. There's a balancing act to behold. About an hour ago I heard this almighty crashing and glass breaking, and I thought she tried to climb up the garbage can. But she decided to explore the nook shelves in the breakfast nook where I keep my hot sauce collection and Connie has some of her ceramic kitchen kitsch that ought to go into the curio cabinet or china cabinet instead. None of my hot sauce was injured in the making of the film, but I'm still gluing handles back on the tea set. The cat's sitting beside the water cooler like, "I'm Dindoo Nuffins. I wasn't in the room."😡

So how was Outer Banks?

Nice recap. You're the conservative Dave Berry.

OBX was good. Got some swordfish which was very fresh but didn't have it's characteristic taste. The water was pleasant. No jellyfish. Lost of new yorkers and jersey license plates. All in all a great trip.
