It varies from patient to patient but seems to mostly be a problem for the few that have to be put on a ventilator and survive. According to both a handful of doctors and a respiratory therapist friend - one of the most likely theories is physical damage done to lung tissues trying to force air in to lungs that are literally “glued” with the tar-like mucus generated in response to this virus. Ventilators are basically a last-ditch “hail-Mary” effort to bring O2 numbers up.

The other long-term issue is for those who had their oxygen levels fall below safe levels multiple times or for extended periods. That would be primarily in the form of brain damage.

Beyond that, it appears that most lingering issues eventually go away, sometimes taking several weeks after “recovery”.

But maybe others have more information that what I have been told.

“The largest % are Hispanic and zero +’s are sick enough to be admitted to a hospital.”

Colorado Hispanic stats vs White:

Hispanic:

Cases: 37.8% of total cases.

Deaths: 21.1% of total deaths. (!)

White: 34.3% of total cases.

Deaths: 62.73% of total deaths (!)

Do your own research. Don’t rely on these posts that don’t post medical links. Nothing here is suppositions from their neighbor’s yardman’s sister’s boyfriend’s dog’s groomer’s cousin.

Yep, it hasn’t been around long enough (that we know of) to assess long term affects.

You say crazy. I say this discussion is dumb.

What about long-term effects of COVID?

To be determined. It's only been around for six months.

[[I just got over it. I am fine. No long term damage.]]

Have you had your lungs xrayed? I would also get a CBC done, and hormone check too- just to be sure- The CBC can tell a lot- if an organ has been affected, it shoudl show up in one of the test results -

well this virus does affect organs- even in healthy people- most will however recover just fine- likely- but always a good idea to have tests if one gets this virus, or any flu rally that knocks the stuffings out of someone- There was a fella on last night- major baseball coach or something- young dude- no underlying health conditions- and was floored for over a month because of this crap- (Most of course won’t get it to that extent- but some will-)

[[It is a crime for those panic-mongers to suggest that such damage is to be routine expected.]]

I don’t see folks saying it is ‘routinely expected’, just that this virus is a nasty virus- and some wonder if there would be long term damage- which is understandable- since it affects so many organs- or rather since it could-

For instance, this virus affects kidneys- and could and likely does cause kidney damage, and kidneys don’t heal when they are damaged- so that would be one instance of long term damage which people should be aware of-

This isn’t ‘panic mongering’- this is fact gathering- so folks will know what to look for so they can get treated before serious issues develop- blood clots are caused by this virus- which can and do cause damage too- but there are effective medicines one can take to combat them- and folks should talk to their docs about things like that if they get this stinking virus-

Some people live a life in paralysis after getting a flu shot.

I guess that would be a long-term effect.

Can You Get the Flu From the Flu Shot? - Flu Shot Side ...
https://www.health.com/condition/cold-flu-sinus/flu-shot-side-effects
Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS), a neurological disorder that affects the peripheral nervous system and can cause weakness or even full paralysis, has been linked with the flu shot.

I have. Not here, but on places like Next Door. There was a major article in sfgate.com that lacked qualifiers. People pick up on these and imply we have 4,000,000 people who have permanently impaired function as if they had polio.

Most of the people who get permanent damage have an underlying condition (sometimes undiagnosed) that would make them just as vulnerable to permanent damage from any bad inflammation of the lungs. I have certainly had family members get "floored for a month" from what are normally serious, but not permanently debilitating illnesses (strep, flu, etc.) Heck, I've had a bad time just with pharyngitis, though I handled Lyme with no issues once diagnozed (many were not so lucky).

It can tell you if there is a problem with kidneys, liver, etc- I get them because of conditions and they monitor things like liver, etc- People that any serious medical issue should be monitored by blood tests- to deternmien if counter measures shoudl be taken ,ie meds- to combat efficiencies or high test results-

The CBC looks at levels to see if there are signs of trouble for many issues-

“Low results can indicate blood loss, problems with the bone marrow, leukemia, and malnutrition. High results can indicate heart problems, kidney disease, over transfusion and dehydration.2”

Not sure why the nasty comment by you?

Oh i thought you meant here on FR- I haven’t seen other sites-

things like blood clots hit healthy people too- but not sure how many folks get blood clots- probably not a lot-

Because you are speaking of things you know nothing about. A cbc is used to monitor blood counts and not organ damage. If I wish to know donetuing about organ damage there are specific ways of testing for each individual organ. Your other medical advice is equally wrong. Spread fear if you want but leave the practice of medicine to those who know what they are doing

If there was serious long-term damage, the MSM would be incessantly talking about it. The fact that they are not is telling.

They actually have started with that talking point. I saw a half-dozen headlines this past week about it. So expect that to be the new left-obsession.

BS- CBC looks for signs of potential problems- They are used all the time to determine if further tests are needed-

NOONE said they were the end all be all of tests- for crying out loud-
