Craig recently had a great starring role in the movie “Knives Out”. Not sure how the movie did at the box office, but he was good in it and it was a fun flick. A real ensemble style movie full of pretty big names

I was surprised at how well he did on his accent. It was a bit more Foghorn Leghorn and campy, but still entertaining.

Sir Sean Connery....
I understand Ian Fleming was not happy with that choice.

There was also some guy right after Connery but don’t remember his name. He was in Majesty’s Secret Service, with Telly Savalas as the villain.

Connery was a nobody when cast as the now-legendary Bond.
One of the producer’s wives saw him in Disney’s leprechaun film and suggested they look him over.
The legend is his casting had nothing to do with the interview.......the producer’s watched Connery walk down the street when he thought no one was looking at him.
They saw he had an animalistic verve in his walk the sexy Bond demanded.
He took the money they offered never realizing Bond would skyrocket him to stardom.
Now says the producers took advantage of him monetarily. They say they made him an intl star.

Connery was a nobody when cast as the now-legendary Bond. He had a small role in "The Longest Day".

Brosnan was a big lib.....he was a UNICEF (United Nations) Ambassador, actively supported John Kerry for President, vocal supporter of same-sex marriage, supporter and backer of Greenpierce....oops....Greenpeace International (loony environmentalists)...and so forth and so on.
I feel no Bond with him whatsoever.

"Sean Connery is the ONLY James Bond".
Agreed!
And the worst you can say about him is he's an ardent Scotsman who, for a while, openly supported Scotland's nationalist movement to declare independence from the United Kingdom.
But the Queen knighted him in 2000 so we can guess that he's perhaps a Tory now......and very much on Her Majesty's NonSecret Service in the Bahamas where he and his wife live.

***Brosnan was a big lib***
I was never a fan. Sean Connery was tops; Roger Moore was OK. After that my interest waned. Brosnan's best roles were where he played the heavy.

I think of Bond movies as being their own genre and judge them as such. I liked them all, (except maybe Lazenby and Dalton) they were just different from each other.

It is a matter of personal taste of course. The early Bond movies spent some time on tradecraft; as time went on they concentrated more on wild action and tech gadgets... a matter of taste, as I say.

It would have been interesting to have seen Timothy Dalton in one or two more outings as Bond. I recall reading somewhere that they were about ready to have him in For Your Eyes Only (1981), but he backed out (apparently at the last minute). And you can see that even though Roger Moore was good in that one, that there were parts of the movie that could perhaps have been that more better and real had Dalton been Bond.
______________________________________
I read that Dalton was offered the Bond role in the early 1970s...However, he said no...He thought that he was too young to play Bond...
FOR YOUR EYES ONLY is a fine Bond film...Roger Moore was great in that movie...Don’t forget Carole Bouquet also...
