I cannot believe I missed my own anniversary.
I joined FR 22 years ago, during the height of the Clinton Impeachment. So many great memories. Met Henry Hyde with some local Illinois Freepers, protested Clinton when he was here in Chicago (He turned around and looked at us when I yelled "How's Monica's throat?") and so much more.
Hoping some fellow Class of '98'ers chime in and let me know they're still here.
Heavy sigh. Ok, you youngin's need to sit down and be quiet while we old folks reminisce. :-)
You make me feel like a newbie!
Oh boy do I remember the good ol’ days! So much activity here on FR, my #1 source for news and commentary!
Still here too. FR was a magnet for us during the Clinton years.
So nice to see you!! Glad you're still here!
Yep, we were (and still are) quite the cantankerous bunch here ... older, wiser, sneakier and we can say "get off my lawn" with real meaning (and a shotgun to boot.)
I don't know yet. Think I have to hit 25 years before I find out.
Great memories. I remember going to the Clinton impeachment rally with my new wife, now three kids later, she and I just celebrated our 22nd Wedding anniversary. Time sure does fly. . .
If it makes you feel any better, I was non-political in high school, became a democrat for a few years, and eventually became a Conservative Republican after discovering Free Republic during the Chick-fil-a debacle in 2012.
I signed up about then as well. Lotsa fun back then. I don’t post much anymore, but I miss the ZOTs...
All of it true, and then some. The things I learned while hanging with the IL Freepers and all the political connections that group had.
We got the inside story on the Clinton Impeachment directly from Henry Hyde himself. The House Managers knew even when Impeachment was taken up in the House that the Senate was going to vote against it, they gathered up the courage to do it anyway knowing the facts were on their side.
Henry Hyde was IMO one of the last of the truly "good guys" in the House. A man of character and integrity who truly cared about what was happening in our country. God bless and keep his gentle soul.
Here’s to the next 22 more years.
Yep, long strange trip since then. Still have my “March for Justice” t-shirt from the October 31, 1988 protest in D.C., the only one I ever attended. Met JimRob there. My sign read: “Impeach him, or crown him.” The Democrats still want to be tyrants. Oh well, Plato tells us in ‘The Republic’ that there is a cycle to governments, always from virtue to anarchy. Franklin told us, we had a republic if we could keep it. The enemies of liberty are demanding freedom to return to the Hobbesian state of nature: where life is “nasty, brutish and short.” Their foreign allies may give them their wish. :(
LMAO! Your turn's coming and I just marked your post.
I’m coming up on 20 years.
I’ve always thought that it would be A-OK for this site to have some monetization features. Ways for the Robinson’s to make money.
I have some pics from back then...will need to dig them out.
I do remember “Antivenom”, quite the lady!
Last I heard she and her gentleman were in Panama or similar bugout location...
I haven't seen your nic in ages! So glad you're still here old friend.
Monetization allows external control...
We just donate monthly...have been donating for 22 years...
You’re welcome America!!
