a) huge, b) horned, c) not terribly bright — that also describes moose, except I would add d) ornery. They can attack without any provocation and are really dangerous.
They wander through our property in Idaho a few times a year. Fun to look at.
When you enter Yellowstone through the rangers entry points, you are handed a pamphlet describing what actions are inappropriate. Signs are everywhere of a bison goring a human into the air. Yet many times when I go, people have to leave the safety of their SUVs and wander out where bison are grazing. If you tell them to get back in the vehicles with their children they get angry. I give up.
