Innovations by Black farmers remain at the core of sustainable agriculture today.
Black people have largely been expelled from the US agricultural landscape. In 1920, nearly a million Black farmers worked on 41.4 million acres of land, making up a seventh of farm owners. Today, only about 49,000 of them remain, making up just 1.4 percent of the nations farm owners, and tending a scant 4.7 million acresa nearly 90 percent loss.
This didnt happen by accident. Since Emancipation, Black farmers have had to fight for a share of this countrys fertile ground, due to a history of racist policies and land theft. But modern sustainable agriculture owes much to Black agriculturalists, explained Leah Penniman, co-director of Soul Fire Farm in upstate New York and author of Farming While Black, on a recent episode of Bite.

Statues are not a red line.
>> Statues are not a red line
This hill is never the hill to die upon, isnt it? With this mindset the Conservative movement could not conserve the ladies room for ladies use.
Proudly in retreat since 1964, wait, thats advancing to the rear.
Theyd get crushed like the current crop of civilisations destroyers and usurpers. Still waiting for Patriots to defend the statues.
“This hill is never the hill to die upon, isnt it?”
BS. Go fight over a statue and you’ll be the dunce.
Never the hill to die on. Always.
“Never the hill to die on. Always.”
seems you have a petulant immaturity problem always wanting to die on every hill.
Our side just talks. Few are willing to commit. Even fewer to sacrifice. Will gladly examine any evidence to the contrary, but it is what it is. The future belongs to those who show up to claim it and political power to those willing to wield it.
And, always, woe to the conquered.
The Gods of the Copybook Headings.
“Even fewer to sacrifice”
Sacrifice your life for a statue? Not exactly a return on investment an adult would ever make.
So long as our side can be arrested and imprisoned, we will not sacrifice for what so far has been going on. The second law enforcement no longer is effective, watch out. Until then, maybe you can go get some other kids and attack something to get your frustrations out.
The lost the land when the taxes werent paid.
Many of those black farmers were...wait for it..sharecroppers in cotton fields. True story.
Certainly true, and without a crop, which was burned or seized, there was no money to pay the property tax. The property tax rate was raised by the Occupation government to a level that most land owners could not pay. The land was auctioned and bought by people who had the money to buy it. They were called carpetbaggers. In many places like the 5 western counties in Misssouri, south of the Missouri River, the Union army burned the houses, the fences, and the crops, including those of union supporters. The people were driven out. Very few of them were slave holders. They didn’t call it the Border Wars for nothing.
>> So long as our side can be arrested and imprisoned, we will not
>> sacrifice for what so far has been going on.
I am very well aware of this. The few Lavoy Finicums who do rise up will be dealt with and our side will quickly rush to distance from them.
The Left does not shy away from street violence. They are not afraid of an assault conviction on their records.
They are wrecking havoc, but they have all the momentum. They are winning.
I don’t see you leading any charge up the hill.
The left is only causing limited damages to their own neighborhoods primarily. They have PAID momentum for the most part. PAID. If it weren’t for their sponsors literally handing out $20 bills at protests they’re wouldn’t be any.
Italians started defending Columbus statues. We got a shout-out from the president :-)
Talking about farmers and Welfare checks, hmm
Remember the Pigford Settlement? Holder/Obama folded a law suit for discrimination by the USDA. 50,000 settlements were passed out like popcorn, to qualify blacks had to show a very low, almost non existsnt to farm, plant a herb in a window. The fund had to be replenished a couple times.
The whole scheme is a true representation of the Obama administration.
