“Fishy part 2: If a service member is injured requiring hospitalization over 24 hours, a Line of Duty/Misconduct Investigation is assigned to determine if the government is responsible for the injury and any follow-on disabilities.”

If I had to guess, she wanted the government to pay for some nutcase doctor to fix her injuries and the government said no. So she got the work done anyway and it made things worse. Then she goes back to the government to fix her now-worse condition, and they say ‘sorry, you should have listened to us’.

...but just a guess.

It didn’t even have to be a nutcase doc, just any civilian doctor.

If she was active duty, Tricare Prime means she pays almost nothing for healthcare, but she’s limited to Military Treatment Facilities (MTFs). If you go outside to a civilian doc, it’s usually 100% on you, unless the military doc is ordering you to see them.

So yup, my guess is that she wanted a non-military doc, but didn’t want to pay for it
