It didn’t even have to be a nutcase doc, just any civilian doctor.
If she was active duty, Tricare Prime means she pays almost nothing for healthcare, but she’s limited to Military Treatment Facilities (MTFs). If you go outside to a civilian doc, it’s usually 100% on you, unless the military doc is ordering you to see them.
So yup, my guess is that she wanted a non-military doc, but didn’t want to pay for it

Thanks, not my expertise, but makes sense. The reason I said ‘nutcase’ was that she got much worse after seeing that doctor (or doctors).
