The Archbishop of Canterbury has urged the West to reconsider its prevailing mindset that Jesus was white - as he revealed a review into religious statues. Justin Welby said monuments in Canterbury Cathedral are going to be looked at 'very carefully' to see if they all 'should be there'. The head of the Church of England waded into the heated statue debate during an interview this morning, where he was also asked if the 'way the western church portrays Jesus needs to be thought about again'.

The Bible says God made us in his image. In art, Jesus is made in our image. Jesus in art has been portrayed as a member of the community producing the art. Yes a European looking white Jesus is going to be portrayed by European artists.

I am not a Catholic. However, I always looked at Catholicism as the keeper of Western Civilization. I saw Catholicism as the guiding light for Civilization into the infinite future.

I no longer see it that way. It is as if Catholicism has been coopted by Marxism. Marxism promotes the opposite of civilization. If we all became Marxists then all progress would stop. Wherever we were socially and technologically at the point Marxism took over, that would be the zenith of civilization. Perhaps air travel and luxuries would continue to exist for the elite, but certainly not for the great unwashed masses of the proletariat. Eventually, the elite would travel by dirigible as the workers tried to keep a few internal combustion engines running with coal gas and distilled alcohol.

This post is about the Church of England, and quotes a CofE archbishop. The Church of England broke with Rome in 1534, and has been essentially an agency of the UK government ever since.
