Over the years of my career, I saw that happen so many times that I always now presume, absent evidence to the contrary, that it is a “inside job”.
In this case, CONSIDER that ALL NASCAR garages have VERY sophisticated closed circuit TV systems & other security procedures to assure that cars are not sabotaged or damaged and/or parts/supplies/trade secrets/etc. are NOT stolen.
My “cop’s nose” tells me that there has been sufficient time for the security tapes to be reviewed, IF “something was NOT already found to to be amiss”.

I’m surprised no one here has speculated on the possible connection with the plane flying a banner donning the Confederate flag. This seems so obvious as a reaction to that, or something like that, to cow the fans, shame them. Or maybe they’re doing the NFL move and want a whole new fan base. They don't have separate garages, they have bays. And everybody pretty much knows each others' "set up". If it happened after the rain postponement, the cars and equipment are stowed, everyone is kicked out and the garage is locked up until the morning. They called the postponement a little after 5pm so things were probably locked up by 8:00...ish?
