Charlie McCarthy was Edgar Bergen’s (Candace’s father) main dummy. He wore a top hat and monocle. Other dummy was Mortimer Snerd. Bergen was a terrible ventriloquist. You could always see his mouth moving in movies. His main outlet was radio so it didn’t matter.
