this is an anti-slavery song written by a former slave.
being against this song is declaring yourself to be a racist
Precisely. All the true racists are taking the masks off now.
Don’t let facts get in the way
i’m assuming Blazing Saddles will be banned soon.
They will eradicate all memories that slavery ever existed.
Or that people ever sang religious songs of praise.
Quite so. In slavery and freedom alike, Black hymns and spirituals express suffering, hope, and yearning for glory in a dignified and inspiring manner that has universal appeal. So how is it racist for a rugby crowd in Britain to sing such a hymn in a respectful manner? In context, it pays tribute to and recognizes the cultural accomplishment of Black America. Some people like the Sussexes though are too stupid to recognize that and talk like unregenerate Confederates objecting to such songs by Whites.
