Four of Tom Petty's family members came together Saturday night to quickly release a statement blasting the president for using the rockers I Wont Back Down at his Tulsa campaign rally, saying Petty would never want a song of his used for a campaign of hate. He liked to bring people together.
The statement said that Donald Trump was in no way authorized to use this song to further a campaign that leaves too many Americans and common sense behind. Both the late Tom Petty and his family firmly stand against racism and discrimination of any kind.
The declaration was signed by Adria and Annakim Petty, his two daughters, as well as both Dana Petty, his wife at the time of his death in 2017, and Jane Petty, his former wife. They end the note by saying they will be filing a cease-and-desist order against the campaign.

Yeah, except Jeff Lynne wrote and produced the song, so they just suck it up.
Doesnt matter what anyone says, no reasonable American is voting for a man with dementia
Why don’t they just put their money where their mouths are and donate any earnings made from Trump rallys..?
Might I suggest for BiteMe’s campaign song...”They’re Coming to Take Me Away, Ha-Haaa!” by Napoleon XIV.
“No More, Mister Nice Guy”
Save that for the inauguration.
>:)
Bingo!
Plenty of unreasonable Americans will be voting for a man with dementia. Those are the ones we need to outnumber.
Liberals have been preaching for socialism and against property rights for so long, I’m inclined to make them live by what they preach. So - Tom Petty needs to surrender his intellectual property to Donald Trump for the greater good.
That was petty of them.
Im opposed to your misspellings of heels and sheer.
Somebody ain’t got paid yet.
“Why Trump is on his heals...”
That’s “heels”!
I don’t know. Tom Petty was pretty much a worthless liberal who hated his father for wanting him to be a Florida country boy. He was a great musician but an empty, limp-wristed liberal at heart.
Tom is so petty.
Easily not even a contest
So long as the appropriate royalties are paid, anybody is allowed to to use any licensed music.
Of course, the Pettys, if they even own the music, are welcome to pull the publishing rights from ASCAP, BMI, etc. Of course if they do that, the royalties that keep them from having to hold real jobs will dry up. But at least they'd be putting their money where their mouths are.
Wasnt that song bizarre? When was that...around 1970?
Too bad about the dead druggie Tom Petty...
