The Minnesota Twins have removed a statue of former owner Calvin Griffith at Target Field, citing racist remarks he made in 1978. Griffith's statue was one of several installed when the team opened its new ballpark in 2010.
The team said in a statement Friday it "cannot remain silent and continue ignoring the racist comments he made in Waseca ... (that) displayed a blatant intolerance and disregard for the Black community that are the antithesis of what the Minnesota Twins stand for and value."

It was not a public statue, it was privately owned.
The owners of the statue can put it up or take it down.
It is not going to stop. Buy futures in industrial equipment companies (caterpillar, genie, etc)
Until they are violently defeated.
Investing in lead seems to be the best option!!
Calvin was a straight up racist dirt bag
He didn’t deserve a statue in the first place.
Its not, as long as people keep bowing to them. Even Dan Cathy of Chik Fil A caved. When are they going to come after Valley Forge or Gettysburg?
But, somehow, the fact Robert Byrd was KKK member and that Virginia Governor Ralph Northup, who dressed up blackface, get a free pass.
The guy was telling the truth about the demographics. It was not racism. When will the freaking media stop this crap. Define racism. Then, and only then, will we have a real discussion.
Only the Left gets to define “Racism”.
Both Bill and Hillary Clinton have made racist comments. When will that giant single wide trailer of a library be burned down in Arkansas?
Dittos!
I think the “Ty Cobb racist” was started by a sportswriter that Cobb was feuding with.
Who knew this country had so many frigging statues?
I sure didn’t.
Agreed. We know it but it won’t matter to these people. Wasn’t it that drunken slob author that got all that started? Al Stump?
Kinda like Robert Byrd and J.W. Fulbright.
Im not excusing it, just pointing out that it helps ones legacy to have a (D) after ones name in Wikipedia.
Griffith did bring Major League Baseball to Minnesota, so racism wasnt his only contribution to the culture.
Hence the statue.
This is in dispute.
From the article:
“I have long forgiven Cal for his insensitive comments and do not believe he was a racist. That was not my personal experience with Calvin Griffith prior to or following that day in 1978.” - Rod Carew
“Good EFFING grief!!!!!!!! When is this shit going to stop?!!!!”
It can never stop, because Progressives gotta keep progressing, Bro. They lose their cause, they lose their identity, self worth, value, and sense of purpose.
Ty Cobb
Do not throw dirt at Ty Cobb.
That man built hospitals for black people in Georgia and South Carolina.
People want to portray him as a racist and if they would educate themselves, he was not.
I know personally. The Ty Cobb Museum is close to me and I go every year to celebrate his birthday.
He was a better man than people believe. He did a lot of good. Please do not put him in the mess.
