Grace Episcopal Church on Georgia Avenue was my maternal grandmother’s church. How sad! By the way, her uncle was killed at Chickamauga fighting in the 31St Ohio Volunteer Infantry. Her husband, my grandfather’s uncle was wounded at Brandy Station fighting in the 12th Virginia Cavalry. I remember those sad markers from my childhood. Lest we forget!

Marker. I think I was told at the time it was as far as the Confederates reached in their attack on Washington, DC although that may have been a mile or two farther in.
