No COVID-tracking on my iPhone yet. Probably will come with the next iOS update.
Not sure this is possible, some will say it is. I have worked in the Cell phone industry, and it would definitely require a download, which should be traceable and reversible. This is one of the reasons I still don’t have a “smart phone”. I use a 3G “stick phone” that has no App capability. I use my computer for all computing functions. If you have noticed this “dispuption” check your ap listing under “Services”.
On android I have Bluetooth turned off so the app says it is not working.
I did have the covid-19 update in my phone, exactly where it said it would be, but it requires Bluetooth to be activated plus an app needs to be downloaded. A good piece of advice is always keep Bluetooth off!
Thank you for the notification. We must stay ever vigilant about what these companies are up to. We all know they continuously try to erode our privacy.
Yep it’s on mine... I also have Bluetooth turned off and the covid app says it’s not running. Damn gov. Or Google or whoever.
Lol. Windows phone!
SPYWARE - for your own good ...
I’m not even going to click on that F B link.
I do have an Android phone and don’t see anything in my apps but that doesn’t mean its not there.
I use Bluetooth for phone and Music through my stereo in my car and as opposed to LOCATION I keep Bluetooth on.
Ping to Nully - Self - explanatory.
Everyone was not having cell phone disruptions last week so I am labeling this as BS.
I checked. its there but it says to turn it on you have to finish installing the app. DAMN!! -android phone’s
How do I find Settings on my android
Interesting. I went looking, and found it on my phone’s “Google settings”. That may be what last night’s “urgent software upgrade” was about.
I dont understand what the app will accomplish. It would log when you come in close contact with another phone with the app turned on, but how would it know if the other phones owner had the virus?
Yesterday I got a notice on my phone that an app was being installed, but there was no new app in my list. Now I know why.
It seems to use Bluetooth, so keeping Bluetooth off would be a good idea when it and about.
Verified, on iPhone. Set to “off.” How nice of them to make the default “off.”
I thought cv19 was winding down. But the development of this built-in software cost some money and took some time. Why? when cv19 is winding down? What are they not telling us? Is cv19 going to be with us all the time? (no) Is the installation of the software just an excuse to set up tracking capabilities? (yes)
The app knows nothing about cv19. It carries the label “Covid-19” but that doesn’t mean that it has any connection at all to cv19. It’s just a label. The app is a TRACKING app. It reports the results of the tracking to some central authority. For readers in Rio Linda, the same code could be used to track aids patients, or climate deniers. Just change the label and voila a new app!
It’s on my Galaxy...dirty bastids.
“Android Phones” the link has iphone not Android, my Android doesn’t have any of this.
The text box refers to an iPhone.
Just checked. I have Verizon, “Covid-19 Exposure Notifications” listed.
Dont forget to go through yuur apps and set them to use location information only when the application is in use.
On Samsung, go to Settings / Location / Recent location requests
Select each app (Google)
Scroll down to permissions, then select location
Apparently several of my settings were altered to Allow all the time
