There is something haunting, yet upbeat about that song.
Sweetly nostalgic of a different time.
RIP Vera Lynn.

Does anybody here remember Vera Lynn?
Remember how she said that we would meet again
Some sunny day?
Vera! Vera!
What has become of you?
Does anybody else in here feel the way I do?

May she rest in everlasting peace.

Having lived through some of that time - it makes me tear up. And remains true to this day - war is still war about which it spoke.

This young woman went to Burma to sing for the British troops in WWII. She went by herself, no troupe, in Jap infested jungle and near the front line to boost British morale. She was very brave. God Bless he memory.

Yes. You put it well. It was a terrible, terrible time, but...there is something about that particular song, sung in her voice, that pulls at my heart even though I wasn’t even born yet.

I didn’t know that. That was apparently a tough theater to serve in, too.

Go to Youtube, there is a 1 hour bio on her and her career before, during, and after the War. She was a British hero.

I remember all those hundreds of wonderful people that I knew now gone, each and every one.
Rest in Peace, Vera - and thanks for all the memories.

I used to do a Vera Lynn Medley when I played at the Veteran’s Homes. I loved her and so did the troops.
RIP.
