Thanks for the suggestion.

Guess you being an electronics whiz you know how to set all that up.
I would have to accept dishing out good money to the commies at Comcast, but then all the providers have sold out.

Can you get all the Fox News programs with your setup ?

Thanks. I have given strong consideration to You Tube TV.
I have a Smart TV and WIFI.

Can you get all the complete Fox News programs and Fox business on You Tube or just segments of them?
We watch Tucker every night and his commentaries are the best around.

As for the NFL games - what does You Tube TV offer? Are they the weekly games shown typically on NBC and CBS and ESPN ?

Thanks again.

Maybe I should ask what CAN’T you get on You Tube TV that one gets with the usual satellite packages from Dish or At&T ?
Who do you use for your internet provider ?

HI,
Sounds like you are ready to buy more stock in DishNetwork. lol

I thank you so much for giving me the complete low down on your DISH experience.

I’ve experienced similar promises from U-Verse. The salesperson said I would get NFL Network with the package, and then denied it when it was all up and running without NFL Network, of course. You just can’t win and you can’t sue unless you are independently wealthy.

A few questions. How do you know if you are talking to the real Dish Network?
I am getting a lot of flyers in the mail with MasterCard offers. Sounds like it might be a DISH affiliate.

I spoke with a DISH representative a year ago when deciding between DISH and U-Verse and was told that they do offer internet service. Maybe no longer.

You sure have given me a lot to think about especially about the Hopper and Joey discrepancies.
As I understand it, you are able to get Netflix and Amazon but not You Tube with DISH.

I have an AppleTV box and a Smart TV and WIFI - so I assume I can get Netflix and Amazon and You Tube whether DISH provides them all or not.

Paying for YouTubeTV also intrigues me. Just not sure what Fox cable programming I might be missing or NFL football games.

Thanks again and I feel for your AAARGGGHHHHHHH moments with DISH. For me it’s been U-Verse.

Perhaps you didn’t display your swashbuckling Sword-handling demonstrativeness with the DISH representative to make them see the light.

T-shirts made from soda bottles?

How does it feel compared to cotton?

I believe they will last forever but hard to get my head around the feel of it.

Guess I should give them a try and sign up with Costco.

Thanks.

Thanks. Never heard of OTA TV.

We don’t have much need of the local channels, but glad to know you can get Fox News and Fox Business. Can you get the NFL games too?

Does OTA provide the internet WIFI service or do I have to go 3rd party ?

Do you get smooth transmissions ( not jittery or jerky) if the programming is chrome casted through a Smart Phone ? I’m not very familiar with chrome casting. Guess I will have to read up on it.
It works with an iPhone6 ?

Thanks for your response.
So, 25mbps gives you smooth transmission even with football games and Netflix movies ?

Can you get all the Fox News and Fox Business programming on YouTubeTV or just typical YouTube segments ? Any football games you can’t get ?

I prefer them, don't even know you have them on. They are very stretchy so I get one size bigger than I really need if I can find them. XL is always in short supply.

You need to join Costco just so you won't forget what a liberal looks like.

Your response got my interest. So thanks.
I have a Smart TV and WIFI and an Apple TV box and could take the route you have taken.

Can you get all the Fox News and Fox Business programming with your setup?
How about NFL and college football games?

Wouldn’t miss the local channels, but your TIVO setup sounds like a nice add-on.

Thanks for getting me to consider your alternative.
Those TIVO units cost a couple hundred dollars don’t they?

Dollar General ! Really ?
I said I wanted threadbare not barely threaded. lol
Guess I could wash and scrub them too on those old ribbed washboards.

I got AppleTV and ROKU too so that certainly is an alternative I have been considering.
Have always been anchored by satellite and cable before.
Not sure I can fly if pushed out of that nest.

Any programs that you miss with your setup? Fox cable programming? Football games ?

thanks for responding.

Who’s your cell provider? Depending, they might offer additional services as a package.

If you’re looking for an NFL “package”, I can’t help you. I gave them up when they “got woke” and started kneeling for the Anthem.

I’ll maybe watch what shows up OTA, but I won’t go looking for it ever again.

They broke the faith.

Tivo.com is their primary URL. The Bolt is: https://www.tivo.com/products/ota-detail

$249. One TB HD, four tuners (can record four different channels at once).
You can also plug in an external HDD/SDD for additional recording space.

I too have a smart TV. Visio 4K. Also the Tivo unit has apps as well and will connect to your network (WiFi or Wire to router) providing an additional “smart” capability. For instance: I tell it to record all eps of “Last Man Standing” and it does. But it will also show all the steaming eps available. I mainly use the Apple TV for streaming. The TV and Tivo unit are backups, I guess.

I’m really quite pleased with what’s available in my area (Indy) and how Tivo works. And my antenna is attic mounted. I would get even more channels with an external unit. And have been considering it.

If you want to check your local area and transmitters close by, check out: https://antennaweb.org/ and plug in your zip code. It will give you a station listing and a geo-location of transmitter locations which will help in antenna selection

I can and do get FNC and FBC through AT&T Tv account additionally I get OAN too.

Had Dish for years, two different states, three houses. loved it. Went cordless, use cox internet only, ooma for the home phone, samsungtv connects to all of the streaming services including the new hbomax. use roku for older sets. spend about half as before with more faster internet, free phone and more programing than I can ever watch.

I’ll also add that ESPN 1 & 2 Also come with the ATTtv account as does the regional Fox sports channels.

You’ll have to drill down on your own for what you want.

OTA is over the air tv, in other words, you need an over the air antenna to get the local channels.

The other service I mentioned is ustvgo.tv, which comes over the internet, or your wifi, or over cellular service. ustvgo.tv is free, and works very nicely, depending on your delivery service. I watch FOX news and national network stations over that service.

As I understand it, you are able to get Netflix and Amazon but not You Tube with DISH.

I have an AppleTV box and a Smart TV and WIFI - so I assume I can get Netflix and Amazon and You Tube whether DISH provides them all or not.

YouTube only in the living room with the Hopper, AmazonPrime, only if you upgrade to the highest end Hopper at $150 extra. Netflix is available on all TVs, using the Hopper or the Joeys. Why? Your guess is as good as mine, most likely because nothing on NetFlix is available for free.

I also had UVerse. . . And it was also an AARRGGGHHHH! The worst came after I dropped them when I moved from Stockton to Sacramento and cancelled my subscription and discovered one of their A-hole associates had converted my email addresses I had had for decades associated with my AT&T cellular phones to my U-Verse account despite my specific instructions to NOT DO THAT! Imagine my dismay when I found that cancelling my U-verse account also DELETED all of the email addresses I and my family had had for more than 20 years that had been associated with our four cell phones!!!! Some of those I had signed up for within two weeks of PacBell offering internet service so that they had my NAME and my BUSINESS NAME without a number qualifier, as my email addresses, and were on my letterheads, business cards, and my advertising. POOF! They were suddenly GONE without any opportunity to retrieve them or redress from U-verse. Since I had converted them to IMAP, so were all the archived mailboxes. POOF!

THEN. . . after I had turned in all of their equipment as they instructed me to do, I went about my business. Nine months later I learned they had turned me over to collections for $1800 for non-return of their equipment, and penalties, PLUS additional six months, services claiming I had never cancelled the service, yet they never sent a bill that got forwarded (remember the cancelled emails to which I had paperless billing sent?)! I still had my receipt for turning the equipment in, but that cut no bones with them. They also claimed I still owed them for the equipment I had NOT RETURNED TO THEM! In fact, they claimed their records claimed on the date I cancelled I had instead called to add premium channels! ARRRRGGGGHHHHH!!!!! They then just ignored the fact I had the receipt for where I had turned the equipment over to the UPS store WITH TRACKING NUMBER, for shipping it to them, AND the record of THEM RECEIVING IT! I also had them look at the amount of data used on my account, and they even agreed it was ZERO after the date I told them I had originally canceled. But, nope, that didn’t faze them. . .

Their in-house collections kept dunning me for two years! I only got to talk to THEIR supervisors in the Philippines. . . And always got the same song-and-dance, “You didn’t return our equipment. You never cancelled. You owe us $1800.” I finally told them to prove it in court. I eventually got a letter from a U-verse attorney threatening legal action, and I sent her a copy of my UPS receipt, and everything stopped without even a response, much less an apology.

Only reason I'm with ATT Uverse is with the internet package i get unlimited data - had both Dish and DirecTV at a place where satellite was the only option and both suck equally when the weather takes a turn for the worse.

I have some "broke-in" T-Shirts that are very comfortable...all good things take time and effort...

Me and the locals got along fine/great... Many of them were Longshoreman, they rule the Islands - but folks don’t like to admit it... I’d retire there, except wife thinks it is too far from Kids/Grandkids... So we are moving to the Lower Keys - best I can do...
