I live in the Pacific Northwest and I often visit and comment on https://mynorthwest.com
But they recently stopped allowing people to comment on their stories. You get this message now: "MyNorthwest has disabled commenting across its websites. We are no longer able to moderate at a level that's required to maintain civil discourse. Thank you."
Have other people experience the same with their local news sites?
I just posted a very similar comment about a week ago. So you noticed, too, huh.
I notice now on YT a lot more videos are not allowing comments.
Too many maniacal psychotic episodes.
Seattle news outlets do not like being called out for their leftist bias. They couldnt take it anymore.
Most local rags are lib run and they dont like the comments they see so the shut them off.
problem solved, so they think
Perhaps the time for arguing is over and the time for bloodshed is at hand.
Two newspapers on LI that I know have terminated adding comments. Of course the comments were overwhelmingly conservative (pro Trump).
Seems most have, they don’t wish to hear from deplorables.
Our local paper makes you register (pay) for a subscription, then you can log in and it can be linked to your Facebook account in order to comment. Plenty of people still talk smack but not as bad as before they did that. Being able to comment anonymously does make a person write things they normally wouldnt say. Myself included.
More like ‘Too many comments that don’t toe the Party line’.
Yep.
Oregon Live got rid of them. The comments were the only voice for patriots in Portland, and they took great advantage of it.
In Utah, KSL.com comments, which are heavily monitored (don’t ever try to lecture them on their content or behavior!) have been taken over by commies.
They burn a Wendy’s, we burn a Popeye’s...
These media snowflakes realizing just how easily most people see their bias and dishonesty hurts their feelers and gives them a sad.
They did this about ten days ago so I’m a bit tardy. But I’m curious if other people are experiencing the same thing in other parts of the country. “Mainstream” or liberal sites started disabling comments years ago especially in 2016 when Trump won the election. MyNorthWest is not a conservative site but it does publish articles from conservatives so this is a disappointing development. Discussions could sometimes get heated but I didn’t see anything that would justify shutting down comment boards.
LOL!
I used to check mynorthwest.com every day, and the comments are always overwhelmingly conservative so I am not surprised they want us silenced. I was banned a year ago for being too harsh to a snowflake.
I have noticed it too. It is awful, because quite often the real details were in the comments. Most local news sites do nothing more than parrot press releases. They don’t inquire or analyze.
So I visit the sites less and less, and usually just browse the headlines.
I said, How much?
Oh, it's free.
No, how much will you pay me to take one?
They didn't like that very much.
Those news outlets are afraid to fall under the wrath of the protestors .
Some day they will die in a blaze by arson glory yelling out, Were on your side!
