Excited delirium is a possibility here. Floyd may have had a heart attack in a few minutes anyway, even if the officers did not confront him. It does not excuse why the officers did not perform CPR or other first aid when they realized Floyd did not have a pulse.

Choke or neck restraint is contraindicated if the subject may have excited delirium. So is prone positioning (on face/stomach). Both have a high correlation with fatal ExD events.
These dipshits did both, creating a trifecta.
