"The Maddona," which word is from the from Italian "ma donna," meaning 'my lady', and which stamp is a bow to Catholics and their Mary to whom is ascribed powers and attributes that are nowhere given to her in Scripture or to any created being, contra. 1 Co. 4:6, but largely parallels those of Christ, who sees less devotion from Catholics than the Mary of Catholicism. In contrast to the humble, virtuous Spirit-filled Mary of Scripture, who is blessed among women as the virgin mother of Jesus, but was nowhere a heavenly object of prayer or devotion by the NT church.
And which is just one of the distinctive Catholic teachings that are not manifest in the only wholly inspired substantive authoritative record of what the NT church believed (which is Scripture, in particular Acts through Revelation, which best shows how the NT church understood the gospels).
I understand the concept of The Maddona, and share your concerns about the heresies surrounding the Roman Catholic doctrines regarding Mary.
That said, when I see an image of Jesus and Mary, I think of the actual individuals, and not the false doctrines. Same with the Roman Catholic crucifixes — I think not of their false doctrines, but of Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross.
