BOSTON — As more people discuss and confront racism in the country, a group is renewing an effort to rename an iconic Boston landmark.

New Democracy Coalition hosted a speak-out at City Hall Plaza Monday afternoon to call for Boston officials to change the name of Faneuil Hall. The group has pushed for a change in recent years because activists say the building's namesake, Peter Faneuil, was a slave owner and trafficker.

Add another to the hit list. "Hitler Hall"? How about naming it after the MALES who were drafted and died on the battle fields of WW2 and helped defeat America's enemies? We couldn't do that now either.

okay and they are painting black lives matter on a street on Staten island in the coming days. I will be there. Instead of everybody typing on here if you are anywhere near any of the things things that are happening stop it. Go there. Don’t tell me it’s all blue. There are Republicans in every state. Virginia. New York. Seattle. Hillary didn’t win any state 100 to 0

So get your a$$es over there or stop complaining.

Virginia still has a lot of Republicans. They should stand around that statue. The South didn’t step up when it should have but Virginia needs to do this.

First southern statues and the Confederate flag and I know they will make an attempt on Columbus circle even though they named it a monument so it can’t be taken down but you know that can change

I can’t believe I have to wake up to this crap. It’s getting so you can’t even check the news without getting sick

Any truth to the rumor that the anarchists want to change the name of Government Center?

The only thing that can be done now to “atone” is to tear down the building.

Historical Monuments and history in general are impediments to their version of “change”

Common sense tells us all that a people ignorant of their history-including that of slavery and civil war are destined to repeat it

which is the idea in the end

I don’t expect it will be too long before retaliation begins, culminating with the defacing of the MLK monument in DC.

I guarantee not one of those idiots knows that some of the first men to die for freedom here, the Boston Massacre victims, lay in state in Fanueil Hill.
And no amount of factual evidence will ever convince even one of those idiots that one of the dead that lie in state was Crispus Attucks. A runaway slave that advocated and protested for freedom.
