I also hate the Saints. There was one man on that squad that i didn’t hate: Drew Brees. I still don’t hate Drew Brees. I feel sorry for him, forced to bend the knee after bringing them a Super Bowl victory. No, I don’t hate Brees. But I do hate the rest of that squad even more now.
“You and I have a rendezvous with destiny. We will preserve for our children this, the last best hope of man on earth, or we will sentence them to take the first step into a thousand years of darkness. If we fail, at least let our children and our children’s children say of us we justified our brief moment here. We did all that could be done.”
Ronal Reagan
Wimp; stand your ground. Eff NOLA.
Apologizing for white guilt is like an alcoholic believing they can control their drinking.
One apology is too many and a thousand is never enough.
He sounds like a pussy, Jim.
I wonder if he was drunk when he did the first statement supporting the flag?
If you want to kiss the sky
Better learn how to kneel (on your knees boy!)
In his famous course called the Dale Carnegie Course, Dale Carnegie taught that when you make a decision, make it yours, and be prepared to die by it. Drew Brees failed to follow Mr. Carnegie’s advice. Now he may find himself in a no-man’s land. He may have now POd almost everyone in one way or another. I was so proud of him when he made his statement, and now I am grossly disappointed that he felt compelled to apologize.
If the NFL players start this kneeling crap during the national anthem again, then I hope that their fans refuse to give them a mulligan in numbers sufficient to literally destroy the league. I certainly will not.
Forced?
I agree. But I guess he wants to keep playing. Another $20 million or so was at stake. But he’s also going to discover that apologizing doesn’t help - in fact it makes things worse.
Not with a gun to his head, not directly at least. If you are a football player and the team tells you straight up that they think you're a racist then you have problems. The Raiders apparently decided that they didn't like Derek Carr's refusing to kneel so the all black O-line decided to mail it in and let guys tee off on him. He ended up getting absolutely pummeled ultimately leaving him with a broken bone in his back.
Peer pressure is a bit different when the peers are the men you need to keep you alive. Sure, he could have just said 'F it, I had a good run" and walked away. I would have because I see cancel culture for what it is and I know that bending the knee is never enough. The mob still wins that way sadly, but it would be on my terms and at least I'd get the schadenfreude of watching Jameis Winston ruin their team.
But Brees doesn't want that, he is lusting for another Super Bowl and to get it he was forced ... yes, forced ... to beg his teammates not to hate him.
History would have held him in honor if he chose to lose all for principle.
Drew,, your response is the problem and will only make matters worse,.
wussy
And what would he lose? An announcing gig? He should have enough “F.U. Money” by now.
Coward for the world to see.
Not a profile in courage...
O-line droppin’ some hints your way, Drew?
This BLM push will end the NFL as we know it. When the kneeling starts en masse, the fans will pack it in.
Seriously doubt pro sports will recover from the Covid/BLM
blackout.
This is also a microcosm of the leftist mindset. Nothing will ever be enough.
No matter how much you grovel or genuflect to the mob, it will never be enough. Once you apologize unnecessarily, you have shown weakness and the mob tastes blood. It will never end.
Ironically; the leftist mob is doing to Drew Brees exactly what they claim was being done to Colin Kapernick. The hypocrisy is lost on them. Apparently; no one is allowed to have a difference of opinion with regard to the flag. If you honor the flag, you are now a "racist".
Time to eliminate the National Anthem from NFL games. They don't deserve it. Let the leftist virtue signalers protest against the USA on their own time.
