When individuals need to protect themselves and businesses need to hire private security, the government has become worthless.
These anarchists think they want anarchy. If they keep pushing, and if government keeps shirking, they may get to see what it's like when both sides ignore the laws. They won't like it.
The stories of the Hispanic gangs in Chicago stepping up to protect their neighborhoods made me think of the rise of the Freikorps in Germany after WW1. The Communists were running wild in the streets, the remnants of the Imperial army and police weren’t willing or able to stop them, and the actions of the Freikorps ultimately won them a lot of popular support.
Between them, increasingly disgruntled cops, and lots of veterans out there from Afghanistan and Iraq, I wonder....
