State Sen. Randy Feenstra defeated incumbent Rep. Steve King in Tuesday's Republican primary for Iowa's 4th congressional district, according to the Cook Political Report.
Why it matters: King's history of racist remarks has made him one of the most controversial politicians in the country and a pariah within the Republican Party.
House Republican leadership stripped the nine-term congressman of his committee assignments in 2019 after he questioned in an interview with the New York Times how the terms "white nationalist, white supremacist, Western civilization" became offensive. The big picture: The Republican establishment coalesced around Feenstra beginning in January, when the Republican Main Street Partnership PAC became the first national GOP organization to publicly endorse and financially support him.
Feenstra, who has consistently dominated King in fundraising, had sought to paint King as an ineffective ally to President Trump, rather than campaign on his history of white nationalist rhetoric. Feenstra's victory will likely move the seat into safe Republican territory for the general election in November.

Being North Mexico is not too far in our future....
This absolutely guarantees Republicans will hold the seat. I loved King but but not enough to lose the seat
Republican Main Street Partnership PAC
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Bush League Republican outfit.
Allied with Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan.
King was one of the few non-RINOs.
Open primary?
this new guy sounds like a douche...looks like hello to another Rino.
They got him.
Youve got the wrong King. You are thinking Peter King from NY. This is about Steve King from Iowa.
“This absolutely guarantees Republicans will hold the seat. I loved King but but not enough to lose the seat”
I hope that you are correct.
Not so fast... Feenstra is winning by 2% with 85% reporting, according to KCCI 8.
WTF?
When did Steve King become a RINO?
Overrrrrr......
3.4% with 90% reporting
Troll from DU?
When? Never. He was a populist long before it became popular to be one. His career was screwed by the politically correct POS’s in the GOPE!
Feenstra is a good guy. Pro life, pro gun, pro wall, Christian. Pretty young at 51, he should be a solid conservative for a long time. King was solid vote, but a liability with his talk.
Half the thread says he’s a GOP-e stooge, half says he’s solid.
This thread is worthless for information.
Exactly! So confused!!
This is all you need to know:
The big picture: The Republican establishment coalesced around Feenstra beginning in January, when the Republican Main Street Partnership PAC became the first national GOP organization to publicly endorse and financially support him.
Main Street Partnership is a Ryan, Cantor, Romney creation.
