Please let us know what the vet says.
Well, I have some news about my cat problem; though Im hesitant to report it, because it seems premature and unlikely.
When our cat problem began last week, we did some research and purchased something called Feliway. Its supposed to be a synthesized copy of mother-cat hormones, and is purported to calm cats down. We bought the diffuser-type that you plug into a wall socket.
The instructions said that it could take up to a week to work, and I didnt have high hopes - but a couple of hours after starting it, the cats calmed down and went back to their old selves. I thought it was a fluke - it hadnt had time to work; but my husband believed.
A couple of days later, the cats were back to hissing, snarling and attacking, and we had to lock them up separately most of the time - until today.
They were driving us crazy; so we started thinking of what we had done differently; and then we realized that the weather had gotten cooler here, so we had opened the windows - probably weakening the strength of the pheromones being put out by the device.
Today, we closed everything up again for a couple of hours, and let the critters congregate again.
Suddenly: Peace and Calm again! I still dont half believe it, because it just seems to happen so quickly; but tonight, we are not in cat hell again, for the first time in days.
I spoke with a vet friend, who told me that she has not used this herself, but has suggested it to many people on reputation, for anxious or snarly cats; and a lot of her clients have said that it works.
We still have the vet appointment - something must have happened to cause this, and we want to find out if theres a health issue; but I think I will sleep tonight without worry :-)
Feliway also comes in a spray form, which weve purchased for the vet trip. (I have no association with this company - I’m just posting this as a suggestion for cat owners/lovers who may have fractious or anxious cats.)
I still wonder if they just get tired of contention after a day or so - but Im not looking a gift horse in the mouth, just yet.
(I hope I included all of you who were kind to respond to my initial post about this problem and many thanks to all.)
