This young woman got caught because it was over the top in the billions.

Event planners got caught lying about event attendance because you don't want to tell the truth that your "star" doesn't have draw.

They'll lie about "value" because a person paid $X million must be worth listening to. "Our news chair is better than theirs because we pay them $X million more than they pay theirs."
