I dont think so. A turbine aircraft engine is not that heavy. Batteries are. The aircrafts max weight doesnt change as that is limited by structural design. So whatever weight goes into batteries comes out of available cargo or passenger weight. The caravans I fly can haul 17 passengers at 200lbs each and myself. The article stated something about this electric version being 8 passengers. Thats a big capacity hit.

Do your homework! I did mine.

You seem to have forgotten about putting fuel into your weight calculation?
“The article stated something about this electric version being 8 passengers. Thats a big capacity hit.”
Earlier 208’s were max 9 passenger. Not all were configured for nine.
“The caravans I fly can haul 17 passengers at 200lbs each and myself”
That is one heck of a conversion! Who does that?

The magniX motor is slightly less weight compared to the turbine.
The design basis for the conversions is to locate the batteries in the space the removed fuel tanks occupied. Battery capacity (weight) is determined based on the weight of the design fuel capacity.
