Elgin bar owner bans customers from wearing masks inside

Once upon a time, a security guard at a bank would absolutely not allow anyone to come inside wearing a mask. Bandits like masks.
Apparently, so did slave owners based on some old photos I’ve seen-Iron or leather seemed to be popular for their slaves to wear—masters didn’t wear them. Funny how various fads seem to repeat throughout history.
People have compared masks to the “No Shirt No Shoes No Service” signs we’ve seen for decades in stores, as proof that the state can force you to wear a mask.
Utter BS. Not one state has a law requiring you to wear shoes:

Even though some stores put “state law” on their signs, there most likely isn’t one, maybe a state health department “regulation” at best.
Businesses can enforce any dress code they wish as long as it’s not discriminatory. So maybe people can claim their religion forbids the covering of their face and win in court, but that’s where it would have to be settled, as the store can prohibit you from entering if they choose to. Walmart and others have done so, but if anyone thinks it’s because of “state law”, show us the law. In fact it’s a store policy which they are fully able to impose, or not - as the bar in Texas has done.
