Hygiene fears may spell the end for urinals

Ah, the trough. They had them at the old Cleveland Stadium.

Once upon a time, when the games meant something we had a fierce rivalry with the Pittsburgh Steelers. It’s just a little over a two hour drive so we would always get several bus loads of ‘Burgers going to the games. A large percentage of them would start drinking in the A.M. and be plastered by the time they got here.

Then the fun ensued. Before we ever had the Dawg Pound the bleachers were the punch palace from before the game started right up to the final gun. Needless to say, there was no love lost between citizens of the two cities.

With all the liquid going in, eventually it had to come out.
The story, as related by a local radio personality (Mike Trivisono) who says he saw it first-hand, concerned a visitor to our city who imbibed so much that he passed out. What to do with an enemy in such a state ? That’s right, lay him out in the trough. Given that hordes of Browns fans had to find relief from their liquid intake they went right ahead and used the same trough. When you got to go...

One other story, also from the same radio host concerns an event best described as “Who even needs a rest room?” When the games were over we were faced with 80,000 fans trying to get on the road at the same time which meant stop and go standstills for cars surrounded by wall to wall people. It appears that a car full of ‘Burgers expressed some disparaging remarks about the Browns which were not taken lightly. The offended party proceeded to offer his rebuttal by unzipping and peeing right in the rolled down car window.

Hygiene fears? Splash-back? Meh!
