Woman pleads no contest to aggravated assault charges

by: Kayla Tucker Posted: May 21, 2020 / 04:03 PM CDT / Updated: May 21, 2020 / 05:34 PM CDT BAY COUNTY, Fla. — She pulled the trigger, he heard the click but thankfully, the gun did not fire.

A Panama City woman was sentenced Thursday after attempting to kill her ex-husband.

Tabatha Miller appeared in court through a virtual hearing and pled no contest to aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

In January of 2019, Miller and her ex-husband got into an argument inside his home. When he tried to leave, Miller followed him and shouted ‘Tonight’s the night. I’m going to blow your head off.”

Miller then ran out of the house with a revolver, put it into the passenger side window of the victim’s car and pulled the trigger.

The victim stated he heard a ‘click’ but the gun didn’t fire. The victim was then able to wrestle the gun away from Miller before she ran off.

Miller was later found suffering from an apparent overdose.

On Thursday, she pled no contest to the charges and received 5 years of probation.

Miller must first complete an intensive drug and alcohol inpatient program before being able to start probation.

I thought revolvers typically didn't jam. No bullet in the chamber?

Many years ago a criminal pulled the trigger 6 times on a Mobile, AL. cop. It went click 6 times without firing.

Later the revolver was checked. All 6 cartridges had firing pin indentations. The perp had backed off the strain screw to get a lighter DA pull.

Just enough. I suppose the cop considered himself lucky.

Well, there went her alimony. He legally wont have to pay it. Kids are a whole nuther issue.

Of course........if I’d shot my ex wife when I first wanted to, I’d have been out by now. I’ve been paying her about $22,000 year since 1996, and I got the kids.

She has no education and is on SS disability for the damage she caused herself drinking and taking drugs.

Any firearm can have a misfire (fail to discharge usually because old ammunition has absorbed moisture). The nice thing about a double-action revolver is that all you have to do is pull the trigger again.

Revolvers are pretty reliable, but there are still lots of reasons they can go “click”.

= = =

Pull it again, quick (if all chambers full).

The victim was spared by God.

Crime: Attempted Murder.

Sentence: Probation.

Explain the mismatch.

I think she's a little higher than the police dept ranking of 5. Maybe a 6.

The cylinder didn’t jam, the click was the firing pin hitting the dud round. Most likely a misfire. Attempted murder is punished by probation?
