Despite Californias $54 billion budget deficit and $1 trillion unfunded pension liability, there are 340,390 government employees bringing home six-figure salary and pension checks.

California Democrats are paring back the public employee extravaganza a bit while they destroy the economy with shutdowns, but if the federal government bails them out with US taxpayer dollars, the party's back on. I'm a Californian, but I hope some sanity prevails and Congress does not provide condition-free money to the loons who rule this state.
In fairness if you make $100,000 a year then in much of California you’re poor.
You could fire them all, and nobody would notice
If we allow a bailout of these states, we are truly doomed as a country...
Do you want to end coronavirus for good, and completely eliminate it?
Simply stop paying teachers, and stop paying government workers during shut-down period.
I guarantee the SEIU, AFSCME and the teachers unions will force state government re-openings the next day, they will deny coronavirus ever existed in the first place, and the media will never speak of it again.
Why California Is In Trouble 340,000 Public Employees With $100,000+ Paychecks Cost Taxpayers $45 Billion
And these are probably just the janitors.
Why is it that when the Democrat politicians steal their union employees pension money they still vote for the thieves?
A bit of hyperbole, but not by much.
Why would people in Iowa, Kentucky and Arkansas want to pay more taxes or assume more debt to bail out California?
Cause and effect. Overpaying devalues money.

No one puts a gun against our head and makes us live here!
“No one puts a gun against our head and makes us live here!”
Then how the hell do you explain all the people staying there?? Jeez! /funny-sarcasm
2 - Raise minimum retirement age to 62
3 - Disallow "buying" years of service
However the Governor has no problem writing big checks to the illegals. Also spending a $billion on surgical and N95 masks to a electric car company in China who has never made a mask. Lots of money upfront in that deal. Also the first batch of surgical masks did not pass inspection at the Utah testing facility.

We know a few people who fit that description. If they are a couple, their retirement benefits are about $200,000 per year a premium health care package.
Fire chiefs and police chiefs retire at well over $150k to become a city or county manager or asst city county manage to at over $200 k per year salary and more retirement pay after a few years in the new position.
“Raise minimum retirement age to 62”
That would just start their platinum pensions earlier.
In Colorado it’s 90% of highest earnings, I don’t know what it is in CA.
Probably similarly outrageous.
I get why there is an agreement that private pensions are done this way. Seems like with public pensions they could have taxed them no matter where the individuals resided.

Everyone of my wifes relatives are firefighters or EMT’s in a larger midwestern city. Literally the whole family.
Her cousin retired at age 53 making $140k in retirement and a year or to later took a arson inspector job in a neighboring city starting at 110k per year. Total BS.
What cracks me up at reunions they all complain about their jobs (low pay) but all their kids all become firefighters.
