In fairness if you make $100,000 a year then in much of California you’re poor. If they are pulling in pensions that means they have been in the state a long time and are likely recipients of nice prop 13 tax breaks. $100K will go a long way if your house is paid for and have $2K property tax bill. Now if your just getting started, $100k ay year will buy you a tent at Rats beach...
