Richard Jewell was his best directing job. Great movie.
I have all his movies plus the first 4 seasons of Rawhide and “Unforgiven” was his best by far with “The Outlaw Josey Wales” a distant second.
I am still surprised that his R. Jewell movie didn’t do better at the box office. Maybe it was crowded out by more splashy, Disney type entertainment. Or some sort of Star Wars film may have stolen the show.
Eastwood is still incredible, though.
I suspect his ongoing work as a director is keeping him in a functioning state. If a workhorse like Clint were to fully retire, he would probably begin to lose his health not soon afterward. If he was already into a lighter, easier schedule, a retirement would be less of a shock to the system.
I know much younger people, those in their 40’s, and work is their main reason for living.
