Vanity - the state of Oregon denied me the ability to vote
5/19/20 | Self

Posted on 05/19/2020 6:06:06 AM PDT by the anti-liberal

I received a nonpartisan ballot. The ballot only included judges. I was not given the option to vote for anything else and today is the deadline to vote in Oregon's presidential primary.

Apparently this involves some deal with DMV voter registration, where Republicans were auto switched to nonpartisan, and sent ballots with only judges and certain measures to vote for.

Are there any remedies for people in Oregon like myself who were denied the ability to vote as a result of this?

Thank you.

Apparently?

Is there any evidence for this?

Class-action lawsuit (talk millions in damages), and bluff them into re-staging the entire primary again, at their cost.

After that, ask the Feds to stage a review over the state...discussing the idea that they can’t run primaries or elections. Silly to suggest that, but it’s like the whole process was taken over by 9-year-old kids.

But I would suggest that the ‘bosses’ of your state GOP played along and allowed this to happen. If you ask questions...they probably won’t answer them.

Torches and pitch forks are a good remedy.

Take responsibility for your voter registration and see that it’s done the way you want it done? If re-registration is all it takes, the forms are available at DMV. This is an old problem.

How are you registered? My husband and I are registered R and got a ballet with R candidates on it. Alex Skarlato, the French train hero, is running in the primary against other R's but for the position to run against Peter DeFazio my Congressman for over 25 years, in the general.

I suspect you are registered I or Non, not sure what they call it, if you do not register as an R, you will not get an R primary ballet. You will never be able to choose who runs against the incumbent D in your district.

I’m in Kentucky. Here, if you register independent you will not be able to vote in any party’s primary. If you register republican, you can only vote in the republican primary. Same with Democrat.

I used to live inWashington state. There you don’t have to give party afilliation. You can vote in any primary you want, but only one. You can vote in your own party’s primary or as a spoiler for the other party, but not both.

Unless Oregon allows open primaries, then you as an Independent are not allowed to vote in any parties primary selection. You have to wait until the general election, in November to select who you want to vote for.

I wrongly assumed another ballot would be sent for the presidential primary (not just for judges) - but today is the deadline. I’ll check anyway though.

Get out to every news outfit in Oregon you can, and keep on them - you and all the others this happened to. Don’t be quiet, don’t let up, until news in Oregon is reporting you. From what I can tell so far, this is major in Oregon today. You are not alone.

Seems like it’s been a couple of years since this problem was discovered. I don’t know if your county would give you a provisional partisan ballot, today, or not. Hassle....

I read the following last night posted at FR:

My brother lives in Oregon, and I had sent this to him so was easy for me to find, and post here. Hope this helps.

This will, no doubt, sound strange but your situation could end up the first straw of a monumental civil rights cluster-f**k that could make Bush v. Gore (2000) look like a speeding ticket. Keep your documents and take notes. Research, and here's the strange sounding part, Oregon's statutes and decisions reflecting the U.S. Voting Rights Act, such as a state level equivalent.

At some point, if he hasn't already, AG Barr will need to address the utter weaponization of the DOJ Civil Rights Division.
