The Democrat-led House Judiciary Committee told the Supreme Court it needs the grand jury materials redacted in special counsel Robert Mueller’s report to decide whether to impeach Trump over his alleged obstruction of the Russia investigation.
Douglas Letter, the Democratic committee's top lawyer, filed a 33-page motion on Monday opposing a Justice Department effort that seeks to have the nation's highest court block the release of the documents. Democrats insist they need the information quickly because the House Judiciary Committee’s “impeachment investigation related to obstruction of justice pertaining to the Russia investigation is ongoing.”
“The Mueller Report grand-jury material remains central to the Committee’s ongoing inquiry into the President’s conduct,” the Democrats wrote. “If this material reveals new evidence supporting the conclusion that President Trump committed impeachable offenses that are not covered by the Articles adopted by the House, the Committee will proceed accordingly — including, if necessary, by considering whether to recommend new articles of impeachment.”

Apparently the media is ignoring the rest of Barr’s remarks today. They should print what he said verbatim because it goes directly to the heart of this Russian collusion delusion.
But Grand Jury testimony is secret. That way if there is not indictment, then the testimony cannot be used for defamation, else the evidence is used at Trail. So Supremes know what needs to happen.

Translation: Dems tell the Supreme Court we got nothing else to stimulate our constituency with but “impeach Trump” mantras, and we’ve run out of material, so please help.
SCOTUS should tell them they have their own investigatory powers, they don’t need someone else’s work product and besides, grand jury testimony cannot be turned over to please political objectives.
