Concert is 99% sold out. Reason this is news is that it's the first big concert I've heard of. Stadium capacity is 75,000 meaning no social distancing BS with this one.

I got my haircut at a speakeasy last week.

The person who cut it said they had cut a lot of people’s hair. A lot.

So I told my 87 year old mom the next day that maybe I shouldn’t come over for a while.

She said “I’m 87. Every day is icing. Come over and I’ll make you angel hair and meatballs.”

Mom’s tougher than 80 percent of the current generation.

at least .

Would the Governor of North Carolina allow the concert to take place?

yeah :) You can get haircuts, dine and even gamble if you know the right people :)

But these idiots need to open EVERYTHING up.

I am sorry about mom.

Pop passed a while ago. It’s a hard thing.

But you made me more thankful for my mom and I will give her a great bit Italian hug :)

A month and a half ago, his wife was calling for a national lock-down order. Someone should ask her about that concert. I think they’re both lefties, so they probably think they’re too special for any restrictions to apply to them.

Yes. It took a while because the place I go is still closed. So, I went the speakeasy route and finally got my hair cut.

lol

Good song :)

The SADDEST part is that even though it’s not manslaughter, yes in this case getting a haircut was breaking the law :)

Good grief.

“Over 74,000 tickets sold in 90 minutes.”

Why?

Tell me about it. I was listening to a country station the other day and I had to shut it off, pathetic as hell. Broadway music with some jackass singing in a completely over the top fake ass southern accent just like this dip Garth. Worst thing that ever happened to country music was giving this Obama butt licker the song “Friends in low places” If they never gave him that song there’s not a chance in hell he would have ever had the career he’s had and country music wouldn’t have been messed up by cliche city.

Woodstock wasn't, in 1969, despite a worse pandemic than this.

The first country artist to record “Friends in Low Places” was actually Mark Chesnutt. His version was released a few weeks before the Garth Brooks version. It is on the “Too Cold at Home” album by Chesnutt. That version cannot hold a candle to the Garth version. You can judge that for yourself.

I saw Garth Brooks perform Friends in Low Places at a concert in Portland OR the second week of December 1989, before the song had been released on his second album. He was the opening act for the then better known Patty Loveless. His entire performance was stunning and I personally told him, that night, I thought he would take country music beyond anything ever seen. He is not that great a singer but he is a fantastic live performer.

He became a star because he has the ability to select and/or write fantastic songs. As Kenny Rogers proved before Garth Brooks, song selection is far more important than a singing voice.

Garth was in the tiny Bluebird Cafe, in the audience, when a songwriter named Tony Arata performed his song with just a guitar and vocal. The song was called “The Dance.” After Tony (a UPS driver at the time, and a very nice guy I met back then) sang, Garth rushed up to Tony and told him he couldn’t believe the small audience did not recognize the greatness of the song as he (Garth) did. Garth, who had no recording contract yet, promised to record that song. It is the final cut on Garth’s debut album.

When Garth first came into country music, Clint Black was the BIG THING in country music. Garth quickly eclipsed Clint Black.

I agree Garth unintentionally ruined country music because he brought WAAAAY too much money into Nashville which attracted phonies from New York, LA and elsewhere. He sold more albums than Elvis Presley.

Everyone then put on a cowboy hat and boots and claimed to be country. Today’s country music is a far inferior music to that of the earlier legends.

We will not see again that authentic music because those who sang it grew up in a much earlier time when country music was written and sung by those who grew up in much different and difficult times of their humble upbringing.
