I had gator jerky once, and it tasted like salted carp. I fed it to my dogs, and they loved it. But they’d just gotten done licking their butts, so what did they know?

  1. Reproduction (Out of the gene pool: dead or sterile)
  2. Excellence (Astounding misapplication of judgment)
  3. Self-Selection (Cause one’s own demise)
  4. Maturity (Capable of sound judgment)
  5. Veracity (The event must be true)
Out of the five rules (or criteria) to qualify for a Darwin, I do not see how the victim qualified on number 4. Physical maturity does not seem to be what is meant there.

The maturity applies to age.

No little children.

The caveat is “capable of sound judgment”. That is most definitely not linked to age; unless one lives a very sheltered life, one hears of an endless parade of adults who are judged (mostly rightly) to be “immature”.

Of course, if I find out more about the victim, whether this maturity applies or not will certainly become clearer.

I would propose a petition to the HOA board, stating that the gators were a safety hazard. In case anyone was either seriously injured or killed, the board is on notice they will be sued jointly and individually.

I suspect that will help their attitude.

Is marijuana legal in South Carolina?

Thank you. I had called and they seemed eager to find a solution but someone else called and they said they wouldn’t be held responsible. Our builder holds a majority of votes right now.

In some neighborhoods you are NOT at the top of the food chain!

The builder.

That means you are still under construction, and the HOA is a sock puppet.

Those letters should be directed at the builder and the state regulatory agency regulating builders.

In the Spring, male gators can leave their lakes/ponds and go out looking to get lucky . . .

LOL! ;-)

If a gator is chasing you remember you only need to outrun the other guy.

Sad story, feel for her friends and family....

I know people are unpredictable and every human being alive has done incredibly stupid things, at one point or another...

Shame when those dumb things occasionally cost someone their lives.
