Did it ever occur to these morons that a bunch of 18th. century sea faring criminals weren’t going to have the tools and technology to dig all the way down to China on what amounts to a floating swamp

Actually if you watched the show you would have learned that the tech you scorn had been in use long before the 18th century and you could even visit some of the fortifications in Canada where they were used.

Many of the ‘pirates’ were not criminals, but licensed privaters. You have been watching too many Hollywood pirate epics. Did you now that one of the most prosperous cities of the time in the New World was run by those you label pirates? It would still be standing today as a leading city had it not been wiped out by an earthquake and tsunami.

Yeah, they dug all the way down as far as these guys have and had internal combustion machines to do the digging and pumps to pump out the water. Ok. And they buried the loot rather than just blow on booze and women.

Can only imagine what it must have been like to walk those streets way back then...
