The real “treasure” is the proceeds from the TV show. It’s making big money for all concerned.

There is plenty of evidence of human subsurface construction.

Since nothing (treasure-wise) has ever been found (that we know of), the question is “Why?” all the efforts to make it appear that something of value was buried?

I never watch any of those treasure searching shows.

You know in advance they aren’t going to find anything. If they did it would be in the news.

Can ya dig it? How the heck all them timbers and such appeared magically. You, nothing to see here. Move along. Besides the treasure already has been found and is being used to fund the Trump campaign. That and for ratings.

This is a drawn-out version of Al Capone’s vault. Sorry I wasted my time on several episodes.

I remember reading about the Oak Island “treasure” sixty four years ago.

So those massive hand-hewn oak timbers with Roman numerals carved in them being brought up for 80-120 feet are naturally occurring also? Isn’t nature amazing!

At least OI is not rife with violence and perversion and the actors are somewhat likeable. Of course there is no reality in the show, but beats a House Hunter marathon on HGTV.

I too read of this story many years ago. It is interesting but there is one great question which I can’t answer.

Why would you bury treasure in a place where it could not be retrieved?

When I was a kid there were stories of treasure in the Choctawhatchee River. It was always lost and sunk into the depths right when they thought they had it.

The one which really do interest me it the discovery of Spanish treasure ships which really do exist. It is reported tho that the Spanish recovered most of it themselves.

Isn’t there a curse of some sort that says that one more searcher will have to die before the treasure can be found?

OK, guys, who’s it going to be?

One of my hobbies is watching the cognitive dissonant marveling at their conspiracy theories. I used to try and help them, but they are beyond that, so I sit back and watch.

Half the reason I lurk here.

If I were a pirate with great booty (not to be confused with the female anatomy) why in the hell would I bury it at great depth needing sophisticated engineering to recover. Why even bury it? Pirates lived in the moment and their stolen treasure was at their side on their ship.

The most successful pirates operated under the kings and one queen of Britain. They were given license to attack the Spanish and also had safe harbor in Britain and British territory. But, the crown must be given its share of the booty. It was a hell of a deal for the British Crown. The enemy was Spain. The pirates would finance the adventure against Spain at no cost to The Crown. The pirates kill the enemy and at times bring a warship back as additional booty and the pirates pay you for the privilege of safe harbor.

Oak Island tv show, is a well tv show. I find it interesting because the evidence they have uncovered.

No, no treasure. The archeology evidence is astounding.

We have a Roman ship wreck off shore. Complete with sword and Roman pillae that have been found. Romans in Newfoundland would be far earlier than Vikings.

We have mercury stained parchments, and wooden structures from the time of Sir Francis Bacon.

We have an entire swamp created before Columbus.

The real treasure is the information supporting theories that Europeans were in the new world way before Columbus.

I have watched EVERY episode.

I don’t know if there still is a treasure to be found.
I don’t know if there ever was a treasure.

BUT, on a little island in the middle of NOWHERE, has certainly been visited by many European explorers. WHY? This is CENTURIES BEFORE any reports of buried treasure.

Instead of “The Curse Of Oak Island” it should be named “The Mysteries Of Oak Island”.

I don’t know about treasure and I don’t know about it being cursed, but Mysterious FOR SURE!

Ancient artifacts, what are they doing there? How did they get there? (To a small island in the middle of NOWHERE, that is).

If you don’t like the show, don’t watch it.

You would be in the minority.

“”Curse of Oak Island” is still the top rated cable TV show in America.” (April 2020)
