It’s possible. But my sense was that they were genuinely scared. Maybe it was a little of both.

A lot of them acted scared, but not of the virus. Quite a few of them, IMHO, ended their own careers. They demonstrated they are not particularly talented or attractive without the actual talented people that do their hair and makeup, write lines for them to read, and do the camera work and editing that shows them at their best.
