A member of the Monterey County District Attorneys Office said the Salinas store was warned they were in violation of CALIFORNIA BUSINESS AND PROFESSIONS CODE 17200
The Monterey County District Attorney's Office is putting another Central Coast business on notice for potentially violating the county's shelter-in-place order. The DA's office warned Hobby Lobby in Salinas that they were in violation of California Business and Professions Code 17200:
"As used in this chapter, unfair competition shall mean and include any unlawful, unfair or fraudulent business act or practice and unfair, deceptive, untrue or misleading advertising."
A representative of the DA's office said this is a civil violation and not a criminal statute.
One customer who was inside the store at the time said the manager told them to they could not sell them non-essential items.
"Unless customers were buying masks or fabric for PPE then they'd have to leave their purchases," Angela Aguilar said referring to items that had not yet been purchased. "I was saying I'll buy a piece of fabric if I have to just let me get my items and they said, 'No that's not the point.'"
One KSBW viewer sent in an email they received from the Monterey County DA's office saying they would investigate the store after they complained about potential violations.
The DA's office said they are not out looking to prosecute businesses, but they are following up on complaints of improper practices.
Hobby Lobby has not yet responded to our request for comment.
You have to know what the commissar is thinking at the moment to properly understand the complaint ... submit your request forms in triplicate and patiently wait for three years for an ambiguous reply.
So publish their names. It’s not classified information.
Bingo.
I ain’t the Gestapo. It ain’t hard to spot the Karens here on FR. They are numerous and they don’t hide it.
I keep the list for my own use. Basically, I know never to trust them again.

It is amazing the sheer number of doomsayer nuts here on FR.
How many so far?
“Where’s your polling data for that?”
Agreed. I certainly wasn’t one of those polled. Good grief, one mention in one story of one instance of wonkiness, and conservatism is pronounced dead????
Yep, badly written original article (small town TV reporter)...doesn’t matter now anyway...there is an update at the website:
“The Monterey County District Attorney announced on Friday that Hobby Lobby is in compliance with the shelter-in-place order.”
Are you kidding, not too many years ago FR was supporting pro-open borders, pro globalist Boosh...They were either all duped or were simply posers.
I re-read some of the posts on this thread, and I think I jumped the gun a little. Sorry about that! :-)
I think your number is way exaggerated.
After working in uniform for 25 years in NY State’s prison system, I learned not to trust any one. I’m a long-time skeptical as well. That’s why I questioned your 50% number. I don’t believe it because there is no proof. If you don’t want to be challenged on it, better not to even include it, especially if you can’t, or won’t prove it.
Hilarious and so true.
Also if they do go to Journalism school, look what they learn:

Fun with word search:
Sex / Gender: 10
Immigrant / immigration: 7
Race: 6
Truth: 2 (neither time mentioned as a value)
And the winner is:
TRUMP: 11 times in the Columbia Journalism Curriculum
skeptical = skeptic
When I was taking night courses in the late 70’s and early 80’s, a professor told our English class that newspaper articles are written so that grammar-school level people can read them.
My understanding there are states where prohibiting sale of "non-essential items" is public policy (Michigan). Reading between the lines here, It sounds like this isn't policy in California so why is Hobby Lobby trying to stop customers from buying whatever they have on sale?
GEEZ! Did you not read the article you posted?
The Monterey County District Attorney announced on Friday that Hobby Lobby is in compliance with the shelter-in-place order.
According to the DA’s office, an investigator found the business falls into the definition of an essential business pursuant to the May 1 shelter-in-place order issued by the county.

Sue them in Federal court.
