As the coronavirus death toll ticks up and some states ease their restrictions, a new study suggests that men might be more likely to leave their face coverings at home.
Men in the U.S. report less intention than women to wear face coverings, especially in counties that dont mandate wearing them, according to a paper authored by researchers from Middlesex University London in the U.K. and the Mathematical Science Research Institute in Berkeley, Calif. This, the authors say, suggests that making face coverings mandatory has a larger effect on men than on women.

Exactly! My wife sits there for hours on end reading one sob story after another about Kung Flu victims. Then she goes on and on about how we can’t open up the world until we have a vaccine or everybody’s going to be infected and die. And heaven forbid I should note that if we wait until the vaccine is ready, there may not be much of a world to open up.
The only positive thing in all this is that my bank has agreed to effectively stop my mortgage until this is all over. No payments required, no added interest or penalties.
In a word NO. For you maybe. But for me and others scare tactics doesn't work.
Because its bullshit?
Says the media trying to shame people into following their stupid orders.
I too am senior (69) and I too rarely wear a mask and when I do it's usually because I'm forced to. I suspect that it is the FEAR factor more than anything else driving this level of fear/panic and hysteria. Fear is a powerful weapon when trying to control someone or get someone to do something they normally would not otherwise do.
I too have changed some of my shopping habits because of some stores requiring face coverings as well. Their store but my body, my lungs therefore my choice.
I think there is a matter of the men feeling as though they need the masks or not. Ive been making masks for essential workers, and both men and women are grabbing them as quick as I can make them, just about. I have made hundreds and currently have three in stock. Im also in a harder hit place than most of the country. Even so, there is a marked difference between the people who are working and the ones who are on lockdown. Men who are kept from working when they feel just fine are generally a bad humored bunch, especially if the non-work situation has dragged on for months.
Everyday is now national hijab day
Or it could also mean that men understand the math involved better. xxx of deaths out of yyyyyyyyy millions of people making most numbers of dead or dying be around maybe 0.1%(+-) out of all those millions. Those odds are not all that different than that of stepping out your front door and getting struck by lightning on any given day. Yeah, what are the odds of that happening either? Irrational fear is the driving factor.
I’ve been wearing a mask, mostly because I can’t go in stores without one. But the epidemic theater is wearing thin.
The media has done a great job of creating hysteria in this country, HOWEVER the people are waking up some people will remain in a fetal position but there is far more traffic out there now people have had ENOUGH the masks are ridiculous!!!
Is there a breakdown of Muslim men and Muslim women answering this question in the UK?
Mine say this on them

At 711 tonight I made the cashier girl laugh.
Neither of us had face cover but some customers did.
So I walk up and say to her don’t you know without a mask we’re gonna die what’s the matter with you.
I needed printer ink today so I went to Office Max. No mask needed, but they didn’t have the ink. The clerk said it was a popular item. I agreed but I was wondering if their store manager couldn’t plan properly or if all their other stores were also out because of the circumstances we are in. So I went to Costco. I didn’t have a mask and couldn’t get in. Ok. Then I went to Target and asked if they had masks. The helper showed me where they were and I got a pack of ten one-size-fits-all. I asked her if they had printer ink (you can tell I don’t shop there much) and she said the printer ink was back by the electronics. They had what I needed. I went to self check-out and was soon on my way. Through all of this, I didn’t wear a mask.
I see people out strolling in the nice fresh air, with masks on. Eyeroll.
Too many people don’t care if they kill someone by spreading COVID-19 pre-symptomatically or asymptomatically.
They’ll probably never see the people they kill unless it’s a family member or some other person they have close relationship with. Who cares if some stranger who is elderly dies? Who cares if some unknown diabetic dies? Who cares if someone with heart disease that they’ve only squeezed past in the aisle of a grocery store dies?
Yeah, maybe those high risk people should be isolating, but after seeing the level of intelligence of the people making all sort of lame excuses for not wanting to deal with the inconvenience of wearing a mask (and I rate the level of intelligence on FR higher than the general public’s), you know there are going to be all sorts of people out and about who should be isolating. But who cares? It’s their funeral.
That type of spread is what is making this disease so hard to control.
Asymptomatic spread isn’t very common for viral infections. The government health officials screwed up big-time by assuming asymptomatic spread of COVID-19 was negligible. Masks should have been very strongly advised from the very beginning. Any kind of mask.
(Expecting to hear world class whining from people saying I’m just laying a guilt trip on people. I don’t care. Have at it.)
Face mask that lights up when it detects coronavirus being developed
Some of the very same women who scream,”Keep your laws off my body.” are among those submissively letting the government mandate they cover their face by putting a facial mask on their body.
