My impression is that Stage Stores is basically a collection of also-ran department stores that are smaller than JC Penney's, floor area-wise, but also charge higher prices. Every time I entered one of their stores, I was always surprised that they were still in business. Maybe not for much longer - it's possible that the chain will simply close down.

They suspended their dividend a year ago and the share price dropped below a dollar back in August before anybody heard of Wuhan.

There is a Palais Royal in a strip center near my house, the same center where our vet is located. My wife wanted to support the store as it is in our neighborhood; but she just didn’t like the clothes selection. Does most of her shopping @ Stein Mart. Still sad to see it go.
