Over the long haul, color laser is probably cheaper to operate. Brother makes a very good one. It stands up to the endless printing of a long lost descendant of Guttenberg. My print addicted spouse.

Another meaningless opinion.

“I have NOT tried is a nozzle clean because the thing is only three days out’a the box.”

Printer could’ve been sitting in a warehouse for months, giving time for ink cartridges to dry, and nozzles to dry up. (I’m not an expert, but just a thought.)

We bought a Brother color laser last month. It was horrible and was returned after about three days.

DH got it to print his digital astrophotography images. I warned him that when I used both laser (Okidata) and inkjet (HP) at work, the laser’s colors weren’t true. He decided to try it anyhow. Colors weren’t true AT ALL. It streaked. Worst of all Brother’s customer service rep was rude and dreadful. But when it comes to cost of operating, the laser might be more cost efficient in the end.

(We’ve had good luck with Brother inkjets in the past.)

“The only long term solution is backup you data, download the latest version of Windows 10 and re-install the OS.”

That’s one opinion, not the only solution. Once having read the problem was with two separate computers it became apparent it was computer related, not caused by the printer.

My solution will receive much condemnation, but here goes: Upgrade back to Windows 7. Fewer bugs and much less apt to be intruded upon by Big Brother than Bill Gates’ Trojan Horse, Windows 10. Technically, going back to W7 is not an upgrade, the term is used to imply upgrading reliability.

Another option is going to something other than Windows.

You couldn’t get me to use W10 if it were free. Oh, wait a minute. It was free. Not only free but forced upon many via W7 fixes. I wonder why Gates did that? Certainly he’s not a globalist or anything like that.

If you have a friend who prints stuff on their printer and it works ... you could print something of their laptop. If it works, problem is on your computer - i.e. probably you docs are all page-feedy or your print driver (the software between the document and the printer) is messed up and generating and sending page feeds .

If you get the same problem when printing from friend's computer, problem is on your printer.

You could type a short paragraph in a new doc, print. Do you get blank pages? If so Backspace from the middle of the doc to the beginning, being sure you deleted everything to the beginning. Save -> print again. Still get it?

I think you said it's images that are doing it - is a short, say, notepad document doing it?

Do three different applications all do the same thing?

In other words, try a bunch of different stuff. If it never behaves differently, it's the printer or your print driver.

You could also try downloading and installing a new version of the driver.

But try a bunch of different stuff before you even try to fix ... all the little experiments will logically point to where the problem is, then you at least know where you have to fix something.

First thing I'd do is hook my friends computer (or another in the house) and attempt to print the same document that's NOT printing from your desktop.

I know this is not the correct method to post this however, I have been having issues for several weeks connecting to FreeRepublic. It is sporadic. Sometimes browser ( Safari ) gives me server not found. Other times when I try to link to the rest of story I get the same response. I have tried several ways to get to site. usually it will work ( including loading FIrefox and now it is happening sometimes with that browser. I recall a certificate issue a few weeks ago. HELP, I need my daily Freerepublic! THanks

PS I would not go re-installing the operating system just to tinker with a printing problem. First try to re-install the printer driver IF you're going to go down the route of replacing operating-systemy-stuff.

I use a mac at home specifically because mac's have fewer of these types of problems ... but if it's Windows ... reinstalling the Operating System is like ... your 3 year old child has a couple rashy bumps on his arm so you just willy nilly give him a complete blood transfusion and lobotomy.

Yes, I see the problem, you are using Windows.

Unfortunate. You will be an unpaid tech person for as long as you continue to accept that prison sentence.

There are substitutes, once you flee the MSFT plantation.

Get a Wuflu vaccine before you leave.

My wife must have gotten a really well made unit.

It’s a beast and she keeps it humming with all kinds of useless printed pages that don’t do much but sit.

How far away from the printer are you sitting?

Can you get a “preview” of your print job before actually printing? Do the 50 pages show up as part of the print job?

My printer is an Epson that I don’t use a lot. It occasionally has issues, but then I don’t use it a lot. After reading this, I decided to look in and see if there was anything on cue in mine. Lo & behold, it showed 61 pages from an old print still on cue! How this could happen, I don’t know. Anyway, that was erased. Still using Windows 7 OS.

That’s funny. It’s obvious some people have been locked up at home too long.
