A network of 3,000 California churches are planning to defy Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsoms shutdown orders by reopening for in-person services, Fox News reported Friday.
California Church United pastors, which represents nearly 2.5 million members, announced Thursday that they plan to reopen May 31 instead of waiting for stage 3 reopenings, which includes churches along with businesses like salons and gyms, according to Fox.
The leaders chose May 31 because it marks Pentecost and the birth of the Christian church, making it fitting for a rebirth of services.
Our churches are part of the answer, not part of the problem, said Danny Carroll, senior pastor at Water of Life Community Church said according to Fox.
Were an essential part of this whole journey and weve been bypassed kicked to the curb and deemed nonessential.
Matt Brown, another California pastor, took issue with the governors inclusion of churches as nonessential during the pandemic.

Wish I could see a list. Maybe I could find one closer to home.
My church wont open and so far has no criteria set to ever reopen. Very discouraging.
So Id like to find something close.
May 15 would have really been a thrill. A lot can happen giving government a 3 week warning.
Yes, thanks for posting this!
As a Christian who has attended a “megachurch” for the past 30 years, I applaud them. I believe in freedom of choice.
However, I’m OK for now with listening to online sermons this summer and reading my Bible. My choice. I do hope the Christian camps for my teens will open this summer.
This is a different “season” for Christianity. I suspect (and hope) many more are turning to God, with or without crowded churches.
Let’s do this. Come on Jesus we need your shield about us!
Go California Churches!!!
Good response!
Excellent. They should be packed.
Resistance to tyranny is obedience to God.
This is Hitler calling us Jews. Get ready for the Dark Night people
Can you tell me where this quote comes from?

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof...”

So dishonest. They need the money, these false prophets. So when are their property taxes due? Remember “Give unto Cesar?”.
Most pastors don’t care about you. They just want your donations. Follow the money.
If you want to hear the Good Word, read the Bible with your family/friends. Or by yourself. You can read, can’t you?
Going to church on Sundays is a wonderful way to connect with other Christians, sing beautiful hymns together and worship the Lord. The Bible calls for us to worship together Of course the churches need money to keep the doors open and to fund many good causes but I think most does not come from the passing of the plate on Sunday but other forms of giving. Many of us really miss our Sundays at church and are ready to go back.
There is a reason the brits feared the black robes the most.
That’s a lotta license plates to record by a lotta cops in a lotta parking lots.
California was to be the model of the new leftwing totalitarianism in America.
I’ll be two of the churches we attended are participating. If they are, good for them!!
