Fun Song - nice job! Now I can’t get it out of my head! Thanks for sharing!
Nice job, like it! How long did it take to write and record? I have a home studio and have been known to write and record the odd original song. My hat is off to anyone who can write for and play the trombone. I’ve never been able to figure out how anyone can reliably hit notes with one of those.
I did have this exact thought along the way, that every day seems like Saturday or Sunday but it didn’t occur to me to build a song around it. I thought about writing a song about this whole lockdown lunacy but I m way to angry about it all.
But I have worked on projects I wanted to do for years but we’re to involved to devote the proper time to. One of which was covering the Righteous Brothers “Unchained Melody. I don’t have a blue eyed soul type of voice so this is more complicated than it sounds. Add in that the Righteous Brothers added notes way up there on top that the original composer hadn’t thought to put in there and you have a real challange.
As soon as our gubernatorial fool (NY) shut us down (even though we’re 6 hours from NYC with no virus probs), I decided I’d do something productive with my time instead of wasting it on Netflix.
So I put together a little music studio. I can’t take credit for writing the song - I changed around an old song by The Slackers - and made it into The Quarantine Song (see credits).
I’ve been playing the trombone and guitar off-and-on since I was a kid, but over the past month I taught myself a little trumpet and bass guitar. I did the audio first with Studio One recording software, then the video with PowerDirector. The hardest part was learning all the software, but it will also help me in my day-job.
The whole project took about a month - because I started from scratch - but the next one will be much faster!
Thanks for listening!
