Ya. I had to take quinine (actually it was probably either chloroquine or hydroxychloroquine) as a kiddo. We lived in malarialandia. Dreadful stuff. Stored in a dark glass bottle in our fridge. Took 2 adults to hold me down to take that. I wasn’t even 5 yet. Did I mention it was dreadful stuff? They didn’t even TRY to make it palatable like they do with kiddo antibiotics. Dreadful stuff LOL.

The worst I had to take was Cod Liver Oil and Syrup of Pepsin. I guess they didn’t make the pills back then.
When my kids were young, the Pediatrician had us get paregoric —you could sign for it for colic or diarrhea.
Just a drop or two. Nasty stuff. We deliberately did not make it taste good—if the kids asked for it, we knew they were in real pain. One little 3 oz bottle lasted till they were adults. It’s not allowed to have it these days.
